My A to Z Phonics Reader

Welcome to the world of My A to Z Phonics Readers! Reading, vocabulary acquisition and the use of words are important mental and creative tools. Whatever we do and hope our children can achieve depends very much on the effective and discriminating command of language. A strong command of language allows us to develop ideas, formulate concepts and work through problems.

We believe that these readers will unlock and build upon your child’s intuitive need for language that is vibrant, useful and imaginative.

Our aim is to guide the essential reading skills and also teach the essential spelling skills so important in the academic world.

We know that when the child responds to stimuli the learning process is enhanced and even accelerated. By making the child’s inner world resonate with external events, the experiences that the child is familiar with come alive. Once a link is made between the inner language “map” and the experiential world of everyday reality, words, concepts and ideas come dramatically to life. This is what we aim to give to the children in our Teacher’s Guide.

My A to Z Phonics Readers, together with the activity books, audio CD and Teacher’s Guide develop this connection through a series of exciting and fun stories.

The aim is to:

  • hold the child’s attention
  • develop his/her imagination
  • provide an inner map of sounds and meanings
  • connect these to the outer world.

In this way language permeates the child’s inner world. Sounds, images and words are absorbed naturally becoming a part of his/her vocabulary and thinking.

The Phonics Reader Method, Level 1

The Phonics Reader Method is a tried and very successful way of teaching reading to the child. It makes reading easy and achievable for the child. The method focuses on the single sounds from a to z. These sounds are presented to the child through the flashcard method and story format.

These sounds are used in an appropriate context and an imaginative stage is created for the child, making learning come naturally. Through the Phonics Reader Method, an imaginative context is give and the child will find it easier to learn the words and to use these in a natural, intuitive way. Reading is no longer dry and mechanical but fun and meaningful. The child will be less likely to resist the learning process.

Through the Phonics Reader Method, the child picks up a network of sounds and words that will be easily remembered both by their internal rhyme as well as the story they are used in.
